Holy baby Joker, Batman!

Josh may or may not have been chewing on a green marker yesterday....

While you were out of town...

Richard really doesn't like painting.  So we've come to a compromise:  I can paint as much as I want, just so long as he's out of town.  Everybody wins.  So when he left for the better part of a week, this is what I did-

That's the big ol' wall in our den.  It was already a chocolaty brown but I wanted to add some mint green to it.  Mmmm, ice cream anyone?  The neat-o part is that I used two different sheens of the same color, eggshell and semi-gloss.  So if you look at the wall straight on it looks plain, but from an angle you can see the checkerboard design.

No way Richard would have let me do this if he had been around.  he wasn't.  hee hee hee...

On an almost completely unrelated note, this is Josh eating devouring a nutrigrain bar.  Just seconds before we got the camera he was trying to shove the entire thing in his mouth.
Cute, huh?

Life According to Scooby

Hannah and I were discussing Scooby-Doo yesterday.  She hasn't quite yet clued in that the culprit is always some nutter in  mask, but she will soon...

Hannah: Mom, which one are you?  I'm Velma.
Mom: Awesome.  Can I be Velma, too?  I want to be the smart one.
Hannah:Yeah.  But who can be Daphne?  Oh, I know, Julia, 'cause she loooves fashion.
Mom: hee hee hee...
Hannah: and Brian is Scooby, and Tim is Shaggy.

You know, I think she's pretty much got her aunts and uncles figured out.  At least no one got Freddy; he's so lame.

Snaggletooth

Hannah finally lost that front tooth that she's been holding onto for the past few weeks-- YAY!  She bonked her mouth on the swing at the park this evening and it popped right out.

(I got the idea for the picture from Kaleen's cute kids)

Let's pretend that I'm Galileo

Here's a bit of the conversation that Richard and I overheard on the drive back from Memphis this weekend:

Hannah: When it gets night it's not 'cause the sun is disappearing, it's 'cause the earth flips over.
Sam: Nuh-uh.
Hannah: Yes, because the world is spinning all around.
Sam: NUH-UH, Hannah. If the world flipped over then all the cars would flip over, too.  And we would flip over and then we would fall off into outer space.
Hannah:  Oh, no no no no.  You see, there's a big bubble all around the world and it is keeping everything stuck inside.
Sam: Oh, I get it.  And when a rocket goes into the sky it pops a hole in the bubble and then when it comes back it fixes the hole and then it lands.  How does it fix the hole?
Hannah:  I don't know.  Maybe it's 'cause there's two kinds of air.  Mom told me about that.
Sam: Yeah.  Normal air and fresh air.
